Alumni & University Award Nominations

    The Keeter Alumni Service Award is given in honor of John J. Keeter, Jr. This award of merit is the highest alumni award possible and is given to the alumnus who has contributed the most in his/her particular field of endeavor toward the betterment of the university or who has rendered the greatest services directly or indirectly to HSU.

    The Distinguished Alumni Award goes to graduates or former students whose personal and professional accomplishments are exemplary of the ideals and aims of the university, and thus bring honor to HSU.

    The Outstanding Young Alumni Award is presented to graduates or former students who have attained outstanding achievements in their field of endeavor, community, state, or nation. The personal and professional accomplishments of these individuals are exemplary of the ideals and aims of the university, and thus bring honor to HSU. To be eligible, the nominee must have graduated within the last 20 years and not be older than 45.

    The selection committee membership for these first three awards is pre-set by campus leadership role including such positions as Trustee Chairman, Student Government President, and Alumni Association President.

    The Athletics Hall of Fame honors former athletes or coaches who, while at HSU, made a significant contribution to HSU and the athletic program. To be eligible, the nominee must have been away from HSU a minimum of 10 years.

    Honorary Degree Awards. Honorary degrees will be based upon achievement in the individual's field of endeavor and his/her exemplary Christian witness. Recipients will be selected in light of the fact that they will be representatives of Hardin-Simmons University and should thus represent its ideals. Honorary degrees will not be awarded to active staff or faculty of Hardin-Simmons University.
